City of Denver Greenlights TDM Ordinance for New Development to Advance Transportation Goals

Denver residents and employees now have more choices for how they move about the city thanks to a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) ordinance recently approved by Denver City Council. The new ordinance requires developers to implement TDM strategies that will expand travel options and create more alternatives to driving. Ideas include a subsidized transit pass for tenants or building amenities for people who walk or bike into the workplace.

Takeaways from EcoFair Toronto’s Panel, The Importance of Affordable Transportation

There’s an old joke that Toronto is about an hour from Toronto. While most of us can bond over our shared burden with a bit of humor, the reality is that Toronto is often ranked as the worst commutes in North America. This, in part, is due to our high transit fares and average one-way commute time of 42 minutes, or 52 minutes for transit riders. What the data doesn’t show is how limited transportation choices can be dependent on where you live.

Jennifer’s delightful personality is not only evident in every aspect of her work. It also carries over into a superior product for our clients.  Simply put, she is a problem solver. Her flexibility, wit, and versatility inspire a higher level of production and teamwork. Having worked for UrbanTrans for over eight years, she has consistently infused her humor into the day to day operations, making UrbanTrans an incredibly fun place to work.

Jenn brings to UrbanTrans more than 19 years of experience in office management, vendor relations, and client services. She works on all aspects of UrbanTrans’ financial management and is a bookkeeper extraordinaire. She is currently researching new tools and strategies to improve operations at UrbanTrans.

Jennifer moved to Denver in 1999 from Maryland (with a short 5-year layover in Los Angeles). Her off-the-job interests include camping, baking, and trying to keep her plants alive.

Johann likes to introduce himself as a “transportation nerd.” It’s probably accurate–and in the best way. Johann is enthusiastic about new transportation technologies and legislation, and he offers unique insights into how these shifts can affect transportation landscape.

Johann has six years of professional experience in transportation demand management. As the Program Manager for the Perimeter Connects transportation management association, Johann directs program development and partner services for some of Atlanta’s most iconic employers, including State Farm, Mercedes-Benz, and Cox Enterprises. Under his leadership, Perimeter Connects developed a relational database to bring better analytics into the fold of service delivery, evaluation, and planning.

Johann completed his doctoral studies in public policy at Georgia Tech with a focus on transportation and the environment. He has published peer-reviewed research in the journals Transportation Policy and Transportation Research: Policy and Practice. Johann is also a member of the 2020 class of the Association for Commuter Transportation’s ACT ImpACT! Leadership program.

Johann is an avid mountain biker and spends his time away from Atlanta hiking and camping with his wife, son, and daughter. He also has a beloved dog Gus who can sometimes be found in the UrbanTrans office following everyone around.
